I am a long time resident of Platte County, Missouri. I have lived in the county since 1976 with the exception of 5 years when I first was married. I attended Park Hill schools from second through seventh grade. In 1982, my parents moved to outside of Platte City and I graduated from North Platte in 1987. I attend college at UMKC, where I was accepted into the Pharmacy school there. Upon graduation from pharmacy school, I was employed by Kmart Pharmacy. That fall I was able to become a staff pharmacist at the Kmart on Prairie View Road. I became the Pharmacy manager there in 1996 and that is where I stayed until 2016, when I took a job with OptumRx as a Home Delivery Pharmacist.
I have been married to my husband Timothy for 28 years and we have two children, Madison and Nathan. We moved back to Platte County so I our children could attend Park Hill schools. Madison graduated in 2015 and Nathan graduated in 2020, they are 3rd generation Park Hill graduates. They both attended Park Hill from Kindergarten to Graduation, attending Chinn Elementary, Plaza 6th grade Center, Congress Middle School and Park Hill High School. Madison completed her degree from Columbia College and is working as a nurse recruiter. Nathan took advantage of the A+ program at Maple Woods and is now currently attending Basic Training for the Air Force Reserves. Upon completion of technical school, he will continue his education at the University of Central Missouri. They both attended Adventure Club and Summer Camp programs. I found these programs to be very helpful to our family. During their school years, I was Madison's Girl Scout leader, a member of the PTA and room parent. I was involved as much as I could be while still working full time, which included nights and weekends, the life of a retail pharmacist.
I am often asked why run for school board now, since I no longer have children in the district. My answer is, I was always interested in doing it but with the schedule I had, I would not be able to make the time commitment. With my children now grown and a job that is more flexible, I have the time necessary to fulfill the duties of a School Board member. Our school district is important to all citizens of the Park Hill School district, whether we children in school or not. Excellent schools are one of the reasons people move to our county. It is also important to invest in the education of children because they become our future leaders. I want to make a time investment in our community and our schools, so I please ask for your support and your vote on April 5th.
